Visiting Edam

Today we arrived in the most picturesque place I have ever seen!

In the early 1900's, Edam produced and sold over 250,000 rounds of cheese each year. Although Edam is still best known for its cheese, the town is quite lovely and enjoyable for a walking tour.

The colorful streets of Edam made me feel like I was walking through the pages of a storybook.

City Hall
Edam is built around a network of canals that were once part of 18th century Edam's busy whaling port with over 30 shipyards.

And of course there are windmills!!

Steins and Castles of the Rhine Valley

Today our tour takes us to the peaceful and quaint town of St. Goar in the middle of the Rhine Valley.

We were treated to a presentation about the craft of making the famous German beer steins.

I couldn't believe how many different types of steins there were lining the shelves!

They even had steins made from steer horns!

The choices were overwhelming, but I think I found the one I want!!

I loved strolling through the streets of St. Goar and having the largest castle on the Rhine looming high above.

Rheinfels Castle
I couldn't think of a better way to end my day then to take a late afternoon cruise on the Rhine!

After a nights stay, it was time to say good-bye to this beautiful little place, St Goar.

Fondue, Cheese and Chocolate! I Must be in Switzerland!

We had a late arrival in Lucerne, so I'm sorry to say I don't have much to share with you, but after a day in Zurich I go back to Lucerne and I will have plenty to tell you about.

So let's kick this off with my day in Zurich!

Well for starters, today is Sunday.  And in Zurich, nothing is open on Sunday!  So I enjoyed my day window shopping and sightseeing......in the rain.

The Grossmünster
The Fraumunster

St. Peterskirche

I don't know if you knew this, but Lindt Chocolates are from Switzerland!   I can't resist chocolate, so to show what a chocolate lover I am I wanted to stand under the sign and make it official.

Having just a little more fun before heading back to Lucerne.

The minute I arrived back in Lucerne, I headed straight to a local restaurant that the had the best fondue.  It was like heaven in a hotpot.

First I start with some wonderful cheese fondue!

And then of course I have to have some of that amazing Swiss Chocolate!

Ended my day in Lucerne with a little sight seeing and souvenir shopping.

Right outside the restaurant there happened to be a street parade going on!

Hofkirche

The Lion Monument

My day has come to an end and it's time to get a good nights rest before tomorrows next adventure!
